How to obtain an Australian passport
|As from 1 July 2015 all Australian citizens must lodge their passport application in person. We are not able to accept applications by mail or courier. This helps us to protect you, by protecting the security and integrity of your Australian passport. Please contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone 91 3536635 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday for further advice or to make an appointment to lodge your application.
Please note that child applications for children under the age of 16 years should be lodged in person by a parent or person with parental responsibility for the child. The parent or person lodging the application is not required to be an Australian citizen, but will need to bring photographic proof of their own identity to the appointment, the child is not required to attend the interview. Children 16 years and over, must attend the interview in person accompanied by one of their parents or person with parental responsibility for the child.
|Please note, that an \'Overseas Application Fee\' will be applied to passport applications lodged overseas on or after 1 July 2015. This is in addition to the normal application fee for an Australian passport. The fee for adult (including senior) applications will be $100 and for child applications will be $50 as from 1 July 2015. The fee will be indexed annually in accordance with CPI (on 1 January). The Passport section at the Embassy of Australia in Madrid is open for passport interviews Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. The Embassy is closed on the following public holidays. The Honorary Consulate of Australia in Barcelona is open Monday to Friday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The Consulate is closed on the following public holidays.
To lodge your passport application, in person, at the Embassy in Madrid or at the Honorary Consulate in Barcelona it is essential that you first make an appointment with the Embassy or the Consulate. Please read below.
The suggested procedure for preparing your application form is as follows:
1. Find out what type of form that you need to use: PC7 or PC8.
2. Read the instructions sheet for that form: PC7 or PC8. Review the checklist below to avoid common mistakes.
3. Read the photo instructions. Australian passport photos are different to Spanish standard passport photos so please check the information carefully before you submit your application. Suggested photographers in Madrid and Barcelona.
