• International Women’s Day (8 March) – a celebration of the achievements made by women and the leadership they provide to society

• ANZAC Day (25 April) – a celebration of the ideals of courage, endurance and mateship that were established on 25 April 1915 when the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula

• NAIDOC Week (July) – a celebration of the survival of Indigenous culture and the Indigenous contribution to modern Australia

• Melbourne Cup Day (first Tuesday in November) – the horse race that stops the nation

• Remembrance Day (11 November) – a day to remember the sacrifice of those men and women who have died or suffered in war
