Closure of the Barcelona Consulate for annual leave
The Australian Consulate in Barcelona will be closed for annual leave from Monday 6 to Tuesday 21 August 2018 and reopen for business on Wednesday 22 August 2018. Australian citizens requiring assistance, please contact the Australian Embassy in Madrid.
How to obtain an Australian passport
As from 1 July 2015 all Australian citizens must lodge their passport application in person. We are not able to accept applications by mail or courier. This helps us to protect you, by protecting the security and integrity of your Australian passport. In Spain you may lodge your application at the Australian Embassy in Madrid or The Australian Consulate in Barcelona. It is essential to request an appointment to lodge your application, to request an appointment please refer below.
Please note: Australian travellers visiting Spain who have lost or had their Australian Passport stolen or it has been damaged may apply for an Emergency Passport and are not required to make an appointment in either Madrid or Barcelona, you must present yourself, in person, at either the Embassy in Madrid or the Consulate in Barcelona during normal business hours.
|Please note, that an \'Overseas Application Fee\' will be applied to passport applications lodged overseas on or after 1 July 2015. This is in addition to the normal application fee for an Australian passport. The fee for adult (including senior) applications will be $100 and for child applications will be $50 as from 1 July 2015. The fee will be indexed annually in accordance with CPI (on 1 January). The Passport section at the Embassy of Australia in Madrid is open for passport interviews Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The Embassy is closed on the following public holidays. The Consulate of Australia in Barcelona is open Monday to Friday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The Consulate is closed on the following public holidays.
The suggested procedure for preparing your application form is as follows:
1. Find out what type of form that you need to use: PC7 or PC8.

3. Read the photo instructions. Australian passport photos are different to Spanish standard passport photos so please check the information carefully before you submit your application.
