Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 , the Australian Embassy in Madrid cannot obtain confidential information on Australian citizens or Australian residents from any police force.
As a result, a person seeking a police check from Spain must apply for and obtain this information directly from the Spanish Ministry of Justice (website available in English).
