Australian Passports

 

With Form PC7:

You are able to lodge your Australian Passport Renewal Application, form PC7 by post.  It is no longer compulsory to submit the form in person at the Embassy in Madrid.

– you must be 18 years and over and you will need a passport that:

  • was issued when you were aged 16 or older

  • was issued on or after 1 January 2006

  • had, when it was issued, at least two years’ validity

  • has your current name, date of birth, place of birth and gender, and

  • has not been reported lost, stolen, or cancelled.

With Form PC8:

You are also able to lodge your Application for an Australian Passport Overseas, form PC8 for a minor by post to renew an existing passport. It is no longer compulsory to submit the form in person at the Embassy in Madrid.

  • The applicant is aged under 16 years old

  • And has previously held an Australian Passport

If you do not meet the above criteria for a PC8 minor renewal, then you will need to book an appointment to lodge your application in person.  Minors who are 16 years old or over, must also attend the interview with the lodging parent or guardian.

If you prefer to lodge a passpost application in person at the Embassy in Madrid, please book an appointment

 

All other applications must be lodged in person by appointment only, at the Embassy in Madrid.

If you have an Australian passport, you must enter/and exit Australia on an Australian passport. If your Australian passport has expired, you will not be allowed to enter Australia on a foreign passport. It is your responsibility to keep your Australian passport validcurrent/updated. 1. Find out what type of form you need to use (PC7 or PC8)

There are two forms available (PC7 and PC8) to complete your passport application.

2. Read the instructions sheet for the relevant form

3. Read the photo instructions

Australian passport photos are different to Spanish standard passport photos. If your photos do not meet the standards as set by the Australian Government, your application could be delayed. 

Please read the passport photo guidelines carefully before you submit your application.

4. Complete your Australian Passport Application Form online

You can do this by visiting www.passports.gov.au

5. Print the completed application form

  • Only completed applications can be printed from the website.

  • Make sure that you sign the relevant signature boxes.

  • If applicable, please ensure you have gathered the required supporting documents.

  • We can only accept original documents.* 
    Certified copies will not be accepted.

* If you do not have the original documents physically with you, these can be presented by a third party at any Australian Passport Office (within Australia), or Embassy overseas.

6. Lodge your application: by post in the case of form PC7, for all other applications an appointment must be made.

Have you had your Australian Passport lost, stolen or damaged?

Australian travellers visiting Spain who have had their Australian Passport lost or stolen or it has been damaged may apply for an Emergency Passport.

You do not need to book an appointment, but you must present yourself, in person at either the Embassy in Madrid by no later than 16:00 pm.  Please visit the Contact Us page for further information.

Please make sure that you bring with you valid Australian standard photos.
